Caren Callahan is an attorney in private practice in Mendocino and Sonoma counties, and holds the distinction of being a California State Bar Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law, and is a member of the AEP ® Accredited Estate Planners by National Association of Estate Planners & Councils. She has a Masters of Law in Taxation (LL.M. Tax) with honors.
Formerly a Sonoma County deputy sheriff, a Human Rights Commission investigator, and a paralegal, Caren was admitted to the California State Bar in 1990. She is licensed to practice in the U.S District Court, the Northern District of California, U. S. Court of Appeals, and the U.S. tax court, as well as being licensed by the California Board of Legal Specialization of the State Bar of California with a Legal Specialization in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law. Her areas of practice include tax, business, corporate, nonprofit, formation and dissolution of business entities, transactional real estate, and estate planning, probate, and trust administration. Her clientele extends from the west coast to New York, Washington DC and Miami.
As a strong believer in giving back to her community, Caren has volunteered as a Sonoma County Consolidated Courts mediator/arbitrator, a Mendocino County Small Claims Judge Pro Tem, a facilitator for Sonoma County Bar Association pro bono legal clinics, and is on the Face-to-Face pro-bono panel and the AIDS Legal Referral Panel, pro-bono. In her spare time, you can find her rowing in a scull or sweep boat at the break of dawn.
